Membership - Requirements

If anyone is interested in membership in The International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, please review our current membership requirements below. We are most interested in having members from under represented countries such as Africa, Eastern Europe, China, South East Asia, and Central and South America. If you are interested in applying for membership please contact the Toronto office.
  • Prospective members must have sponsorship of two active members of the Society who will submit letters of recommendation. Please submit three names whom the Society can write for letters of recommendation.

  • An updated curriculum vitae indicating interest in the lumbar spine, including all publications to be submitted in English.

  • Lists of significant spinal research and other contributions to spinal research, treatment and/or education must be mentioned in the application form. Reprints of your above quoted 3 scientific papers must be attached.

  • An application must have been present at a meeting during the last 4 years and have presented a paper or poster during the scientific program of an annual meeting before being accepted into the Society. Please indicate the year of your presentation. Abstract forms will be sent to the applicants each year for the upcoming meeting.
All criteria for membership must be received by January 15th of a given year in order to be considered for membership at the annual meeting of that year. Please send 5 copies of all materials to the address indicated, and when your application is complete it will be forwarded to the Membership Committee for consideration.
