The membership application system is now closed and will open again in June 2022.

Minimum criteria for consideration for membership are as follows:

  • Prospective members must have the sponsorship of two members* of the Society, who will submit letters of recommendation. The letters of recommendation must be uploaded with the membership application. The ISSLS membership list can be found here. If you require the e-mail address of a member, please contact:
  • An updated curriculum vitae in English indicating interest in the lumbar spine, including a list of all publications. Generally, at least six lead or senior/corresponding author, peer-reviewed papers are expected.
  • Note most significant contributions to spinal research, treatment and/or education on the application form, and attach reprints of your three most significant scientific papers.
  • The applicant must have been present at, and been the presenting author of, a paper or poster in the scientific program of, at least one ISSLS annual meeting during the past four-year period, before being accepted into the Society. Please indicate the year(s) of  your presentation(s).

*As a sponsoring member of an applicant, please familiarise yourself with the criteria for membership to ensure that the applicant being sponsored meets the minimum requirements listed above.  

The application for membership must be received at the ISSLS office by September 1 of a given year in order to be considered for membership before the next year’s annual meeting. The Membership Committee will inform the applicant of their decision on October 15 of the same year.

Membership fees: First year 200 USD, after that 150 USD annually.
