FELLOWSHIPS AND AWARDS
ISSLS actively encourages and supports young researchers and clinicians via its Fellowships and Awards Program. We are grateful for the generous corporate donations that allow young researchers to attend ISSLS Annual Meetings, where they present their papers and posters, meet like-minded clinicians and researchers and continue their valuable research into spine disease and disability. Their contributions to the ISSLS meetings prepare them for eventual membership of our close-knit family. The ISSLS Fellowship Program ensures that important research continues to be undertaken across clinical, bio-engineering and basic sciences. With continued support from pharmaceutical organisations, as well as the fledgling ISSLS fundraising campaign, we hope to continue to support young researchers in the years to come.
The ISSLS Prize for Lumbar Spine Research: sponsored by European Spine Journal
The ISSLS Prize program, sponsored by European Spine Journal, comprises three awards of US$20,000 each. Prize winning papers can be in basic science, in bioengineering science and in clinical science. The aim of the ISSLS Prize is to encourage lumbar spine research.
ISSLS Wiltse Lifetime Achievement Award
An annual, non-monetary award for exceptional achievement in the spinal field.
ISSLS Basic Science Research Grant Sponsored by Kaken Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Seikagaku Corporation
The ISSLS Basic Science Research Grant is sponsored by Kaken Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Seikagaku Corporation for US$20,000. The purpose of the award is to promote research in the lumbar spine. The research proposal should be in basic science (including biomechanicals science) and at least one investigator must be an ISSLS member.
ISSLS Clinical Science Research Grant Sponsored by Medtronic
The ISSLS Clinical Science Research Grant is sponsored by Medtronic for US$20,000. The purpose of the award is to promote research into the lumbar spine. The research proposal should be in clinical science and at least one investigator must be an ISSLS member.
ISSLS Clinical Travelling Fellowship sponsored by Nippon Zoki
The ISSLS Clinical Travelling Fellowship is sponsored by Nippon Zoki and is open to junior faculty members (in practice for fewer than 10 years) from any country or part of the world. Applications will be judged based on merit and qualifications, with an emphasis placed on scholarly activities and clinical experience.
Young Investigator Travel Grant sponsored by Nippon Zoki
Young researchers and clinicians are encouraged to apply for this grant, the purpose of which is to assist with registration, travel and accommodation costs associated with the annual meeting. The abstract must be submitted and accepted with the applicant as the first/presenting author. To accept the award, the applicant must also attend the annual meeting.
Best Paper and Poster Awards
These awards are presented at the Annual Meeting for the two best papers and two best posters on the Program and are judged by the Program Committee. This is a non-monetary award.
