Welcome to the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, bringing together individuals from across the globe for the purpose of research and clinical study into the lumbar spine. ISSLS serves as a forum for the exchange of information of both an investigative and clinical nature relating to low-back pain and disability.
In Memoriam: Professor Gunnar B.J. Andersson (1942–2026)
The ISSLS Executive Committee and international spine community mourn the passing of past president Professor Gunnar B.J. Andersson, MD, PhD.
A pioneer in spinal biomechanics and disc biology, Dr Andersson dedicated over five decades of service to ISSLS.

Up to three US$20,000 awards in Basic, Bioengineering, and Clinical Science. Dual submission to ESJ and ISSLS Secretariat required.
